Sew & Tell - Eva's Dress

As summer approaches, more and more people are making dresses for their little ones. Summer dresses are soooo simple to make. And simply cute! This dress that Eva made is a variation of a very common pattern. You know the one with the elastic collar and sleeves. The pattern is widely available from Japanese books to giant pattern manufactures. I make it quite often too. What Eva did is that she left the sleeves elasticless. Skipping one step made dress making not only easier but look a little more elegant than the one with puffy sleeves. Wouldn't you agree? Or maybe her choice of simple blue white vine print did it. Love it! Thank you, Eva!

Sew & Tell - Tammi's Camisole Dress

As a mother of two boys, Tammi is used to making pants. So for her friend's girl's birthday, she wanted to make something very girly. Pink floral, pink gingham, lace on the pocket...What could be more girly? The dress was a huge success as her little friend loved it so much. It's a perfect dress for summer, somewhere outside the city though :-( Thank you, Tammi!

Sew & Tell - Alison's Meow Pot Holder

I received these photos from Alison on Mother's Day, but don't know if she made this cute pot holder for her mom. But it could be a perfect gift for anybody on any occasion. I love her idea of pairing it with a bottle of wine. It instantly becomes a much more thoughtful gift rather than a bottle of wine alone when you are invited to a casual dinner. And these cats (from Japan)! Meow cute! If your host is a cat lover, you will make the host extra happy. Mother's Day or not, a little gift like this always makes someone happy. Thank you, Alison for sharing!

Inner Sunset Street Fair

The skies are gray, but despite the fog, the very first Inner Sunset street fair is going on today. I won't be participating in this, but this is another reason to come to this neighborhood. Music, family fun, and shopping at those independent crafters' booths. Our neighborhood is also well known for its diversed eateries. I know Peapod is a little farther away from where the fair is. But, walk people, walk. It's good for you :-)

Sew & Tell - Akiko's tunic

You know I love my girls so much, but it seems like someone else loves my Molly more than I do. Well, it's not a competition, but for sure a three years old Kazuha enjoys playing with her more than I do :-) Here she is wearing a tunic her mom, Akiko, made. The pattern is from one of the Japanese books, but sorry, I forgot the name. Her big sister, Wakana, has the same tunic, but she wasn't wearing it this day. Their mom usually makes everything in a pair in different prints for the sisters. As a mother of a boy, I say how fun it would it be! I mean...to make outfits for two little girls! Kazuha was totally in her own world putting Molly to bed using fabric as a blanket. It was so cute I could have watched her for hours. I told her to ask her mom to make a dollie for her, but she shook her head. She simply wanted Molly. But, at the end she understood Molly belongs to Peapod, and she returned her on the shelf where Billy-Jean and Lucy waited. Then, she gave me the sweetest, tenderest hug. It almost made me cry :-) Thank you, Akiko, Wakana, and Kazuha! I hope your mom makes you a dollie :-)

Home in Progress

I'm very tired, and my neck pain continues. This morning I had my very first experience with a chiropractor. It was a bit scary, but oh boy, it felt good. I never knew my whole body would crack that much :-) I'm kind of looking forward to my future visits. Meanwhile, our new place is gradually becoming livable without us getting frustrated. We still can't locate a nail clipper though :-)

I can't decide where to hung the clock, so it stays on the built-in shelving for now...

Sew & Tell - Dana's Camisole Dress

It looks like someone is loving her Black Apple Dolls. She loved it so much her mom made her three at once. This is Emmeline. Here she is wearing a pink birdie camisole dress her mom, Dana, made. She made this for their vacation on a beach down south. I'm sure the dress was a perfect fit for their colorful culture. Emmeline is also holding Black Apple Dolls along with Black Apple Bunny. The dollie sisters have beautiful blue eyes just like Emmeline. They also have very creative names that reflect their owner, and the only name I could remember was "Cupcake" :-) She has the most creative mind, and I know where it is coming from...she's been raised by the most creative mom and dad. This is her only second appearance in Sew & Tell, but her parents sew like crazy for her, and her dad, Mike, has a blog to prove it. I was over at Mike's and found out Emmeline and Mike were on a local TV show. Mini Quilt Book - isbn 978-0-8118-6873-0

Remember this photo shooting? I've been looking so forward to this book to come out since then. It is a lovely book with beautiful photos taken by Leigh Beisch. In the States, when you see a beautiful craft/sewing book with beautiful styling, it is usually from Chronicle Books which is based in beautiful San Francisco. I noticed three shots taken at Peapod. But...but...there is no Peapod's name credited as it was supposed be :-( A big disappointment for me! So I have to give Peapod credit myself that these photos were taken at Peapod Fabrics!!! Anyways, if you want to try your first quilt, this book will help you to start something small.

What a mess...

How are you all? Me? I'm exhausted. This is why...we moved. And the craziest thing about the car accident was that it happened very next day. The place was and still is a huge mess! I can't even find the simplest thing like a nail clipper :-) The last thing I needed in a time like this was an argument with the insurance company. I found out today that my car will be in the shop until next week, and my neck started hurting again. I tried to ignore it because I just don't have time to go see the doctor. But, I think I will have this check out.
FYI - The shop has been open during the normal business hours since Tuesday. So stop by!

Sunday the 2nd Closed & Email Down

As noted on the site, the shop was closed on Thursday, but Friday was partially closed too as I was having the craziest day. To make a long story short, my bad day became worse, and ended up the worst by my car being hit by another car. An elderly lady backed up without looking back. My first auto accident in my entire life. It just sucks up so much of my time and energies. Lots of apologies to people who stopped by yesterday when I was away. The damage on the car seemed minimal at first, but I found out this morning one of the wheels got wobbly. The only good thing is that I am okay. So I am so sorry to announce that I have to take tomorrow, Sunday the 2nd off to take care of things. So if you can, you got to come by today. I got tons of new stuff and I don't have time to show you here. Also, my email has been down since Thursday. Hopefully it gets connected tonight. I assure you that the shop will be open Tuesday at 12:30pm.
