January

On the last day of January morning...having tea brewed in the iron teapot that Dianne gave me over the holidays and admiring a book of Shane's amazing hand embroidery that I received the other day. Thank you Dianne for the teapot.  Thank you Shane for the book.  I am really enjoying them!
January was the month I enjoyed teaching kids...
For the twins' next project...
January was the month of lots of baking...
My cupcake of the month...
January was also my boy's birth month...
A chocolate cake was requested...
The cake the next morning...
January was also the month of cleaning...
Cleaned the cabinet with Murphy Oil Soap...my hands were falling...I am planning to sand the cabinet and stain it.  Yeah, right if that happens this year, the boy says.  I've been saying this for the past two years...
January was just another month for our dog to eat more treats...
Isn't the bone cookie cutter adorable?
Well, this picture is from December...I baked these cookies for Christmas and Dash just had to share them with his good buddy, Cooper...

Sew & Tell

Marilyn is a diligent quilter.  This one is for her good friend.  Well, if someone deserves such a nice handmade quilt like this one, that person has to be a very good friend.  And she is.  Her friend gave her a rescue dog with which she goes everywhere.

Have a closer look.  I love the blues and tans and grays together.  And I love how every block of big gray dots looks different.  So everyone, do not hesitate to use larger prints for small squares.  They create an interesting visual effect.  She tied it with white yarn which adds warmth to the soothing cool colors.
Thank you, Marilyn!

And here is the newest action at the Peapod sewing class room (well, a sewing class nook to be exact).  These adorable six-year old twins, Sarah and Amelia, walk by Peapod everyday and thought it would be cool to sew.  In fact, among the other things they take, sewing will be one of their after school programs.  So at the first lesson, they sewed the owl's eyes and beak on the body by hand and got a glimpse of how a sewing machine operates.  The results are in their hands.  The owl ornament, which I modified to make it a lot easier for their age. Oh, they loved it!  And so did I!  Thank you, Sarah and Amelia!

Happy Birthday Noelle!

Oh, those girls had such a blast at Noelle's birthday party.  She will turn 10 at the end of the month, but yesterday was her big day at Peapod.  Noelle's mom and I decided on the project a month ahead.  A stuffed kitty cat.  They were all very good at hand stitching, and I loved how everyone showed their personality in doing it.  And every cat has a different expression.  They are all so unique, despite having the same outfit.
Here they are.  Aren't they adorable?  I think they look pretty arty.

Project #2

Just a little update on my boy's room...two panels of the curtains were put up this morning and these are my project number two of the year 2013. We still have a lot to do, but surely it is becoming a teenager's room.

New Year, New Room...

Happy New Year, everyone!  Hope you are enjoying a peaceful new year day so far as we are.  It's been a productive couple of days.  I got one thing off my to-do list for 2012 on New Year's Eve.  We finally painted the boy's room.  It was team work.  We rearranged the layout a little bit and are still working on it, but the boy totally loves his new room.
a blank canvas...
it's no longer white and some photos will be posted later...
the lazy dog...
my studio area got organized a little bit too.  I'm hoping I will be sewing more than I did last year and that you can do the same.  Thank you all for your support in 2012 and let's make 2013 a wonderful year for everyone too.
