Synder Goes For Walkies

Here it is! My Snyder Goes For Walkies arrived. I love it! Isn't it adorable? It looks like me and Dash. Except the fact that Dash doesn't have spots. And that I don't wear a mini skirt :-) It is my very first purchase at Etsy too.

"a bunch of dahlia and happiness for $4" said the flower shop vendor at the stonetown farmers market. he knew what he was selling for...

Vacationing at Home

Today was the last day of my vacation. No, I didn't go anywhere. Just hanging out at home. The best place to relax. I don't get to do those simple things that you folks do on weekends without worrying that I would be late for work. Going to a farmers market, barbecuing , sweeping the front porch, and even cooking. And finally the sun burned the fog out of the city. Hooray! But it came with the heat. So much heat. No, I'm not complaining. Instead, I am totally enjoying it.

$1 for a bunch of basil ! cherry and pearl tomatoes $1 a pound at the farmers market...

cooking for dinner at 9am...seafood casserole...
totally a wrong menu for the scorching day...

a clove of garlic from gilroy (left)...compared to the regular size clove...

drying doggy bedding...yes, a boy can sleep in a pink blanket...

meeting a new friend, nero, at the barbecue...

enjoying the mellow morning sun...he's never laid down on the hard wood or kitchen floor...

the second day of the heat was just too much for this little guy who was super bored, but refused to go anywhere in the sun. i set up a little "vacation" table at the front porch where was the coolest place around the house. stealing my flip flop to chew, he was one happy dog. and so was his owner :-)

Sew & Tell - Cherie's Wall Decals

Well, somebody will be living in the forest pretty soon. Cherie and her partner are so ready to welcome a baby girl. They created this cool nursery with fabric decals. Fabric decals? You may have heard of vinyl decals, but Cherie made them with fabric. Here is the link where she got the instructions from. Cherie divided the original amount of the starch mixture by four, so she mixed 3 teaspoons of corn starch and 6 teaspoons of cold water, then added 1 cup of hot water. This was more than enough to do her entire tree. Like she said, the fabric decals have a much more natural and warmer look than paint or vinyl pieces. They come off easily with no damage to the walls. Perfect for the renters. Isn't it great? I would like to try it. Anyways, I love their nursery. Deer, a squirrel, birds, gnome...am I in the story of Snow White? Soooo cute! The baby will be one lucky princess for sure. Thank you, Cherie for sharing!

love the quilt too!

Dinning Table

This is how my dinning table looks like in our new place. Well, it doesn't really look so tidy everyday. You know how it is...junk mail, kids homework, or dog treats take up most of the table top. But, I've been trying hard to keep it crap free. Yeah, it's a new thing at the new place. With a kid and a puppy, you know it gets pretty bad easily if I don't try. I replaced the old green dot tablecloth and made a new one with black gingham I carry. I like it! It's nice for a change. And I've been thinking about what to do with the empty wall, but I think I've found just the right art. I will show you when it arrives.

Sew & Tell - Kathy's Airplane Shirt

How's your summer? Did you guys take any summer trips? Camping? Road trip? Or air travel? The owner of this shirt enjoyed a flight to Colorado. Like any toddler boys, Kathy' son loves airplanes. And this print is way too perfect for him to show off on the plane, or anywhere he goes. Bright, fun, and so summery. I'm sure he received lots of compliments. Cool shirt, Kathy! And thank you!

Sewing Camp

Today was the first day for the Teen Sewing Camp at Sewing Workshop. And these girls stopped by at Peapod as a part of their session (the shop opened just for their session). Their ages range from 13 to 15 years old and they are all beginners. It's so nice to see a group of younger generations so enthusiastic about sewing.

The instructor, Debi Cournale, advises the girls in choosing fabrics...

choosing the right print is hard...

Living Room Curtain

While potty training a puppy, yes, I've been working on the house very slowly. The house came with plastic blinds on every window which I always hated. But with million other things around the house to work on, it was fine for the time being. But, I had to whip myself up to make a new curtain for the living room window as its blind got broken a couple days ago. The French window is charming, but it's in pretty bad shape as it is the original to the house over 60 years old. One panel of the window won't shut completely leaving us to feel the drift on a cold night. So I used the heavy canvas dot to keep us a bit warm. I will eventually make it double layered for the extra warmth before winter. Yes, fabric makes a difference in comfort as well as physical appearance. I love the way it looks.

Doggy Bandannas

Did you notice our proud dog on the top page of my site? Don't you think he looks cool? I know I have an Ice Cream Dress to sew, but you know the motivation is higher when you have a real model to dress up. In my case it's Dash, of course. I made these bandannas over the weekend. OMG, what am I doing? I always thought it was tacky to dress up a pet. Especially with a cheesy tasteless outfit. But, I'm becoming one of those people:-) We remove his harness when at home because it looks like it irritates his skin. So I thought a bandanna will help identify him just in case he slips out of the door. And it makes him look like he has an owner. (My boy keeps saying that he looks like a stray without a collar or harness). I think he likes it. Or more truthfully it doesn't bother him :-)

D: am i done yet?
he doesn't look so proud with these worrying eyes...but i love his insecure look...

the other side of the turquoise dot is a red humpty dumpty print...
he is messing up my vegetable garden :-(

D: it's not that i don't like your bandanna, mama. i'm just hungry... am i done yet?

a richard scarry print bandanna...combined with...

a good old katie jump rope print...
D: yay, i'm done!
