Nani Iro

Yay, Nani Iro (what color in literal translation) is here. The first time I saw these beautiful double-gauze prints designed by Naomi Ito was nearly 10 years ago in Japan. I wasn't sure what the material was made of right away, but I still remember how stunning it was to feel it. Then, I learned that it was called double-gauze. The texture is just gorgeous. Rustic, yet so refined. So soft. So organic. I just love it! I wanted to carry it sooner, but it wasn't available for the US market until much later. Then it became available, but I still hesitated to carry it for a couple of reasons. Now I think it is time to introduce it to San Franciscans. I have a feeling that many of you might not know what to do with it, but its super soft texture is a wonderful material for kid's clothing. I remember I made a couple things with it back then, and the drawstring pouch is still with me today. It's been a good travel companion for little things. This time, I will make some tops for myself.

more colors available later on...

  1. Oh, I'm so excited! I recently got some old Heather Ross fat quarters in double gauze, and you're absolutely right. The texture is just amazing! Light, soft, but warm.

  2. Yippee! I love how painterly Nani Iro fabric designs are, and little surprises in how its laid out or along the selvage. I've also heard that double-gauze is great to wear in hot weather. Our hot weather is coming soon!
