Lemon Square Quilt

So after staring at my wall with two box-in-box blocks for a while, I realized it wasn't what I wanted. I thought it would look too unified. I am a person who loves asymetric randomness and imperfections in quilts. I started to search for more inspirations and found this gorgeous quilt. I love it! I want it! So I decided to make it. According to the creator of this quilt, the pattern is called Lemon Square and she used this tutorial. I was going to replicate with my scraps to get the look, but it is easier just to follow the instructions. Thanks to the owner of the tutorial and another thanks to the creator of the quilt for the inspiration.

Tenugui

Something new has arrived from Japan. Something we call Tenugui. It is a traditional Japanese-style hand towel, but I consider it as a tea towel. There used to be only the traditional prints available when I lived there, but they come in a variety of prints these days. They made a great come back as a part of the slow life movement, as the younger generation acknowledges how beautiful the way of life was in the old days. Just like Furoshiki did. The graphics are so bright and crispy. They are gorgeous! The tenugui cotton is traditionally loosely woven so it is airy, and it absorbs water like magic and dries like magic. Because it's so graphic, it doesn't only have to stay in the kitchen. You can use it in a more creative way that you want.

Resting

hi everyone, i didn't mean to disappear. i feel bad about posting only twice in january. i've been busy. no, i mean...even when i'm busy, i always wrote. so that's not it. i mean i am mentally overloaded. it's been stressful. i can't think of anything. my mind is all over the place, then blocked. too many things to deal with. other than that, all is well. really? :-) the boy is back in school and doing well. just little headaches once in a while when he has to concentrate really hard. but, that's something that was expected and he has to deal with it. so it's a new month. let's make it nice.
