Vogue Patterns Magazine
The recent issue of Vogue Patterns Magazine features where to go for fabric shopping in the Bay Area. It's been a while since the photographer came to shoot the shop photos, and I never heard from them until a sweet stranger lady recently called me to let me know. As a self-taught sewer/crafter/quilter, I have never been a serious clothing seamstress at all. And to be honest, I had never seen the magazine before until again another sweet lady brought it to the shop to share with me. I didin't have time to read the article, but quickly took these photos. I need to go get the copy for myself. So if you have a chance, please take a look. You know the garment industry is hurting as the recession continues, just like other businesses, but we are here. Trying to keep our doors open. Every store is different and is proud of what it offers. And I believe the city of San Francisco needs Peapod :-) There are big chain stores and numerous online stores, but your local stores add a charm to the communities. This goes to any small businesses, like book stores or coffee shops. So your support helps. Thank you Vogue Patterns Magazine, and YOU folks for your support!

Love Rocks
I guess you noticed the new cover for February. Yup, it's a lot of hearts... I've been a collector of heart-shaped rocks for years. I think the very first one was picked up on the Humboldt coast. Some came from a small river in Japan. Many of them came home with us from the Sierra. I dug up my old files to share the Sierra road trip that we took three years ago with you. Here you go...

I still need to do some handstitching. 100% cotton in slate.
sewing the sleeves were a bit tricky...

Sew & Tell -Yufu's Apron Dress
Yufu is catching up with her sewing time after the holidays. She has a big party planned in March as both of her two little girls were born in March. The table setting will be mainly in pink. Surprise surprise :-) And Yufu is making them matching apron dresses in pink too. She made this creamy floral dress as a sample, and Saho loves it. It will be one big pink birthday party. Thank you Yufu and Saho.

Clean Start
I'm glad that the holidays are over. It's always fun, but it is tiring too. Well, it's time to get back to normal again. The guests are gone. School is back. The tree is put away. After getting used to the red and twinkling things around the house over a month, the place looks a little bland without them, but it's okay. It's perfect to start a new year. I really needed peace and calmness to reset myself. Now I got my favorite corner of my house back where I sit with my cup of coffee in the morning.

Sew & Tell - Ann's Dolls
I'm happy to post the first Sew & Tell in 2010. Ann's two little boys received special dolls over the holiday. Adorable! Don't they make you smile? Lots of details. Hair, faces, arms, and legs...making these parts takes a lot of patience. They sure are very special dolls. She got the doll pattern from this site. Thank you for sharing, Ann!
